Maybe the going to games thing came across wrong. And tbh I wasn’t meaning likes of yourself. I was more referring to a younger generation that follow us online.
I barely go these days. You’re right Sid, it’s downright expensive. Won’t have much change of 100 notes with ticket and a few jars.
I get the tactic of drawing the press to bypass it. But at end of the day it’s the players who execute that plan. Tanaka was caught on his heels as Trafford passed to him. We’re not the only ones who do it. So yes, Trafford has to shoulder the blame. Same as a striker who misses a sitter.
I know other managers use it but just makes no sense to me, always seems to be a mistake in the making. End of day only Farke makes that decision, it’s on him. If it brings about the afore mentioned mistakes then no one should be surprised. Yes players were at fault but imo should never have been put in that position in the first place.
Managers have imo worked out Farke, they know what he will do and know he’ll do little or nothing to change it until about 70 mins. Ah well a Resurgent Spurs next and with fat frank in with 2 other horrible fixtures Farke needs a bloody good result or he’s on thin ice again.
There’s every chance whoever came in after him would use the same sort of play to draw out a press.
If it’s modern tactics they can keep it, all it does from what i’ve seen is invite fuck ups generally. ( And not just for us)
Wrote a long reply and then it would post. I was at the game yesterday, 5 of us traveled.
Us and those around were sick of Farke's. Negativity.
He's burning up any credit from last season fast.
3 winnable games before Christmas. Need 9 points. Scum home a Sunderland away were massive failures and negativity was tge reason
You’re right very debatable. Including whether we’d have been better positioned to stay up. What you can add into the mix for that first season, is that a certain team cheated their way out of it.

By reverting to type, which type do you mean? The type that had us scoring lots of goals for a couple of seasons in the Championship or the type that kept us up last year?
I do feel sorry for Farke with some of our fans although it seems most of those don’t actually attend games. No matter what he does, it ain’t good enough and never has been. He’s done everything his employers wanted. Got us up & kept us up.
Some still yearn for a Bielsa world where we flow forward and others are dying for us to pluck some hipster manager from obscurity who will suddenly turn us into a side challenging the top 6.
Names I’ve seen on a ‘wanted’ list this morning include Corberan, Pablo & Thiago Motta.
Second season up is notoriously difficult.
Sunderland are sticking to their guns with same set up as last and they’re not faring so well at minute.
And as for our squad Stoppy, 2/3s of it is decent, midfield & defence. Forward wise we’re threadbare. The rest of it still includes Nmecha, Brendy, Dan James. You know, the ones openly derided as not good enough. We’re overly reliant on Okafor staying fit. And any sort of injury to DCL doesn’t bear thinking about.
Would someone else get a better tune out of us? Maybe. But it’s not guaranteed is it? Could just as easily turn out worse.
Is there £££ in the kitty for January? Not sure tbh. And the new rules are pretty swift & brutal for any overspending.
Let’s be brutally honest. Farke had an embarrassment of riches at his disposal in the Championship and it still took him two goes at getting us out of there. Even then we were seeing his stubborn side (the Rutter/Piroe nonsense).
I don’t go to games any more but been to hundreds down the years and seen enough of managers to spot flaws. We have seen the absolute peak of Farke’s abilities. He saved his job last year only when the sack was staring him straight in the face. He almost left it too late. But why did it take him so long to realise what was needed? Why did it take him so long to realise Meslier was shite? Why has he burdened the team with Aaronson?
He has one of the one worst win percentages at away games across the Premier League and Bundelsiga because he is shit scared of pushing the boat out.
At some point he will realise this slow, negative, ultra cautious approach isn’t working (again) and change it. It might keep him in the job for the rest of the season and hopefully it keeps us up but there is no way he should be here next season. His course is run and the club needs far better if it is to progress.
I know other managers use it but just makes no sense to me, always seems to be a mistake in the making. End of day only Farke makes that decision, it’s on him. It’s bonkers. Man City cheated their way in to a position where they could buy some of the best players in the world who can play close control tippy tappy football and make it work. Suddenly every manager and his dog think that is the only way to success. I watched a League One game last season with a team (can’t remember who it was) playing Lincoln and they were trying to play out from the back. Lincoln absolutely ripped them apart by pressing hard.
If it isn’t done by great players it is not only dangerous it is shite to watch. Give me Wilko’s 3 passes, an overlapping full back and early cross into the box football any day of the week over this toothless whatever the fuck it is.

The simpler days. I do miss it. I do think the phrase ‘not the game I fell in love with’ is very apt. And you shove VAR up the proverbial arse.
Certainly getting that way, i used to watch any game i could including internationals,i’ve spent way way way too much on travelling home and away with both Leeds and England. Now i watch Leeds once a week through a dodgy stick and even now am reaching the point where it becomes Less and Less important to me,
Gone through from the Don to Farke and i’m sorry to say Farke is one of the least in game capable managers we have had, we have had some dross in that as well but he’s right up there with the worst,
Anyway, guess next watch will be spurs if grass doesn’t need mowing. Lose that and i think we are in trouble, Farke won’t stop the rot this time.
