Remember when players like Seth Johnson and Brolin came to mind when thinking about wastes of money. Well Orta is single handedly deleting them from memory. What is it, summat like £70m in total paid out for JKA and Rutter? (If we lose the JKA appeal)

JKA included wages. God knows what we had to bribe Rutter to go through with the deal (apparently didn’t want to come). So well in excess in total.
I’ll caveat that with that the JKA wages dispute is still ongoing.

Precisely. Said it on Twitter. Nothing short of money laundering. How you justify a 4400% mark up. We’d be asking for close to 200m for Gnonto. And which one out of those justifies it?

yep it's bonkers, also how does 'potential' even justify a £35m fee?. Jota went to Liverpool for £40m and he was close to the finished article ripping up the prem.

Maybe I'm living in the past but I don't associate that kind of money with potential, unless it's a very special young player. And Rutter's time at Hoffenheim certainly didn't put him in that bracket.

Gakpo was £37m but he was one of the hottest young names in world football.
