Re: Zebbys Leeds United General discussion
If we don't go up it's going to be soul destroying. The 3 clubs coming down plus 2 or 3 improving clubs in this division. Birmingham will have money to spend.

Birmingham become subject to PSR next season (works differently in L1 & L2). They’ve bought well this season. But wouldn’t surprise me if they just ignore the rules and go for it either. Ipswich would be my favourites to win the league. They’ve pretty much bought the best of last seasons Championship. They will lose Delap but will also strengthen.Hampshirewhites wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 9:12 am If we don't go up it's going to be soul destroying. We’d definitely lose Tanaka. Maybe Ampadu & Rodon. But we’d make profits on all 3. Others as well. Major rebuild on a budget. All for the sake of trying to rinse value out of Meslier.
Re: Zebbys Leeds United General discussion
Last season Leicester had a better squad than us imo (or at least open to debate) and Ipswich were a complete freak. Add to that it was Farke's first season and we amassed 90 points, was a solid effort despite the blip so can understand continued faith.Hampshirewhites wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 9:12 am If we don't go up it's going to be soul destroying. This season however, I don't think failure to gain promotion is acceptable. Our squad is objectively the best and every opposition manager and fan says it. There are no excuses for this blip. None. Sheff Utd before Jan had very little squad depth and Burnley have had to go ultra defensive as their best attacking players are the likes of Jayden Anthony.
League will be stronger next season. It would be madness to do it all again with Farke. A rethink would be needed. We could still have the second best squad behind Ipswich if we recruit well (which we seem to do these days). Likes of Gnonto, Ram, James, Piroe still a hell of an attack, and I cant see them leaving.
Anyway, hopefully they surprise me and hit form again starting at Luton. More hope than expectation mind.

Given yesterdays tripe, do we actually have any prem quality players. I can’t say i feel any of them ate really that quality.
Re: Zebbys Leeds United General discussion
You say that Rick but as we saw last summer, when cold hard cash is placed on the table, we take it. Which strengthens my argument that the Meslier bid was bollocks. His stats just do not back up his supposed value.
And we still don’t know the extent of how much we need to find to continue paying off our transfer debts this summer. But I doubt a single player sale (like Tanaka) will cover it.
And Sid, I totally agree. Very few of them are Prem standard.

Re: Zebbys Leeds United General discussion
No doubt we'd take decent money for the players I mentioned, I just can't see us being offered decent money. Gnonto hasn't played enough to get his big move, neither has Ram. James' ceiling is probably viewed as top end Championship by most suitors, and doubt a top division club will have a pop at Piroe considering his lack of mobility.Titman wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:38 am You say that Rick but as we saw last summer, when cold hard cash is placed on the table, we take it. Unless a relegated club decides to spend a wedge of parachute payments on one of these 4 I can't see them leaving.
I'd expect the money we generate will be from selling Tanaka and a couple others perhaps.

Thing is though how many promoted championship squads do? Not many over the years are better ours. As always a lot of money would need to be spent to compete in the Prem.

We should definitely have strengthed in January with at least 10. Kinnear is such an arrogant cunt.Rick wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 11:04 amLast season Leicester had a better squad than us imo (or at least open to debate) and Ipswich were a complete freak. If we don't go up Farke has to go.
Gnonto will be gone the question is who else.
If we go up we will need at least 7 players. Apart from the obvious, Rodon is nowhere near good enough
Re: Zebbys Leeds United General discussion
My main hope is that he'll put Gnonto in the 10 now and it will revitalise the team. Give us a second wind. He keeps talking about how he wants to but circumstance has prevented him.
Aye agree Rodon would probably get rinsed in the Prem.
