Anyone know much about Archer? Apart from a youtube compilation I'm not really familiar with him.

Is he a signing with a mind on the Prem? (as in he's good enough long term and not just to help us over the line). His time at Southampton probably not much to go by as they're just cannon fodder. When we signed Tanaka, apparently we wanted him regardless of what division we ended up in last summer. Just wondering if it's the same kinda outlook on Archer.

Probably best to look at his time with Boro. Signed for them January couple of years ago. Played 20, 11 goals I think?

Aye I'll have a look on the Boro forum, see if I can find any historic threads on him.

tbh, with the dearth of players we have on the bench being held back usually til the 70th minute i don't think we really need anyone else. If, we get someone in they should be premiership quality otherwise were just wasting cash. Also how will spending money impact us next season when we will need quality players

Aye, that's why I was wondering. Agree it's not a great idea right now to commit to a substantial chunk of money on a player who we don't deem Prem quality. A loan fee is fine, but no expensive obligation to buy, unless of course we do deem him good enough for the Prem, even if it's just as a Prem squad player.

Probably bollocks but I saw a rumour today that Archer has a relegation release clause, and Southampton are therefore willing to make a deal now (loan with obligation) before actual relegation to try get more for him. Probably pointless speculating as it's just rumour, but I had a look how much they bought him for, £15m. So I'd imagine if there was a clause it would be around that figure. Dunno.

Also, researching Boro fan's opinions on him, and a few Leeds content creator views, seems like he's a "Pukki but better" type striker. So I can see why he'd appeal to Farke.

I don't see Piroe as prem quality. I might be wrong.
Archer could end up as second choice if we go up with a starting 9 coming in.

Yeah Piroe would get swallowed up easily by Prem defences. Even at this level he has too many games where he's ineffectual. We'd need a new 1st and 2nd choice striker in the Prem imo. If Archer can fulfill either of those roles he's worth bringing in.

Piroe has something but just doesn’t come through currently. His striking of the ball can be sublime, the rest of his game suited more to prem perhaps ? Really don’t know.

Yeah he is a bit of an enigma. Defo got a touch of class about him.

He seems to shine more when we dominate teams, then go missing in tight games like v Burnley. That and his lack of mobility makes me think he'd struggle up top in the prem for us.
